Francis has been writing and directing original content since 2001. He has worked extensively on media of different genres, including corporate reels, commercials, brand stories, broadcast programmes, and short dramatic films. In 2010, he was commissioned by Singapore Tourism Board to direct a film for The World Expo in Shanghai. His films have garnered awards, and traveled to festivals throughout Europe and Asia. The Postman, a noir thriller, won a Regional Silver Award at the 19th DigiCon6 ASIA, and was nominated for Best Director, Actor and Soundtrack at Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest. As a filmmaker, Francis hopes to explore the human condition with a screen language that is identifiably Asian yet universal in its narrative sensibilities. He views such endeavour as an artistic extension of his first love - the written word. As a writer, Francis has presented his poetry at literary festivals, notably ASEAN Universities Arts Festival, and ASEAN Writers’ Conference. In 2017, IMDA and LaSalle College of the Arts sponsored his stint at the inaugural WritersLab, a screenwriting workshop designed to hothouse script development.
Francis has an Honours degree in English Literature and professional qualifications in education.
